How to commission an artwork

I am always happy to receive enquiries about commissions. I enjoy painting a range of subject matter and I like a challenge.

When considering a commission please:

1. Look at my other work and ensure my style suits your needs. I work mainly in pastel but can use other mediums such as gold leaf, oils and acrylics, but these are not my main medium. Pastels, as a general rule, need to be framed so please ensure this suits your aesthetic. Be clear about what you want. Ask questions to ensure we are the right fit for each other.

2. Discuss the time frame. It may be that you need it by a certain date. Please ensure that the time frame negotiated leaves time for any changes and be aware that there will only a few changes included in the price. Ensure that you keep in touch with me during the creation time and let me know the best way to do this.

3. I will request a contract that will detail information about the commission. Please ensure that you agree to the terms including a 40% non-refundable deposit (once started), and that it has the correct project scope, timeframe and agreed price.

Communication is the key to receiving a great commission.
