Pets, with their endearing personalities and expressive faces, never fail to inspire me as an artist.
When commissioning a portrait the photograph is critical. Portraits can look flat and without vibrancy when there is not sufficient colour in the fur - every change in the direction of the hair changes the colour of the hair due to the light hitting it differently. I have loaded a video that shows how I layer the pastel to create colour and texture to ensure I get an accurate likeness.
Key things to remember when providing a photograph:
In focus
Light on the face to get a twinkle in the eyes
A dark or contrasting colour for the background.
If the pet has crossed the rainbow bridge, provide a number of photographs.
Whether you're seeking a larger or smaller painting, I am flexible and can accommodate various sizes for pastel pet paintings. Drop me an email, and we can discuss your vision further. Your pet's painting is not just a piece of artwork; it's a timeless tribute to the love and companionship they bring into your life.
